About Emily:
Emily has been teaching yoga for 13 years, and has taught in studio, school and corporate settings, but one of her favourite ways to teach is one on one in private sessions, as a more holistic approach is often required. Often the student needs to connect to some awareness within rather than without. Emily grew up in a scientifically focused household, with her mother a clinical psychologist, and her father a GP. This environment, and Emily’s other career as an actor has meant that the practice of yoga was as much about connecting to her emotional life as her body. Her years of training in SomaChi Yoga with Lianne Metcalfe brought together her love of creativity, connection, movement, psychology and the wisdom of Buddhist teachings.
Having lived with ADHD, and a history of depression, anxiety and insomnia, (generally and postnatally) Emily has lived experience of how yoga can have enormous therapeutic impact upon the mind and emotions, and for this reason, is passionate about her classes nurturing the emotional and mental wellbeing of her students as much as the physical.
